Funding Guidelines - 2016 Grant Cycle

The IanThom Foundation is committed to the support and enhancement of LGBT life and rights, the arts and progressive causes through strategic donations, preferably to smaller, community based organizations where a little goes a long way.

Eligibility Requirements:

All organizations seeking funds from the IanThom Foundation must meet the following requirements:

  • Current IRS 501(c)(3) determination. (A percentage of grants may be made to 501(c)(4) groups.)
  • Board-approved non-discrimination policy inclusive of sexual orientation in effect.
  • Please note: First-time grants generally do not exceed $1000 and due to the current stock market condition, the Board of Directors anticipates that 2014 grants may well be less than in previous years .

Application Timeline:

Applications are accepted throughout the year for consideration for the next calendar year.  Applications for the 2016 funding cycle are requested by December 15, 2013. Grants will be announced by January 1, 2016.

Application Process:

While we do not wish to place burdens or extra work upon organizations requesting grants, the following information is requested if possible:

  1. A one-page cover page, including the applicant organization’s name, name of person submitting proposal, organization’s address, telephone and facsimile numbers, e-mail address and website (if available), exact dollar amount requested, total operating budget, and total project budget.
